Travel Diary: Zamosc

by danize.com@gmail.com

I want to share with you my experience of visiting Zamosc, a beautiful city in southeastern Poland. I spent three days there and I enjoyed every moment of it. Here is a summary of what I did and saw.

Day 1: I arrived in Zamosc from Lublin by bus in the morning. I checked in at the Hotel Zamoyski, a historic building in the heart of the old town. After a quick breakfast, I headed to the main attraction of the city: the synagogue. It is one of the oldest and most impressive synagogues in Poland, dating back to the 17th century. It has a richly decorated interior with paintings, carvings and inscriptions. I learned a lot about the history and culture of the Jewish community in Zamosc, which was once very large and influential.

Day 2: I took a day trip to Komarow, a small village about 20 km from Zamosc. This was a very special and emotional visit for me, because my grandfather was born and lived there as a child. He left Poland before World War I and never returned. I wanted to see his birthplace and connect with my roots. I visited the local cemetery, where some of his relatives were buried. I felt a strong bond with my ancestors and their homeland.

Day 3: I spent my last day in Zamosc exploring the rest of the city. I visited the town hall, the cathedral, the palace and the museum. I admired the architecture and the art of Zamosc, which reflects its multicultural heritage and its role as a center of trade and culture. I also enjoyed walking around the market square, where there were many cafes, shops and street performers. In the evening, I went out to experience the night life of Zamosc. I had dinner at a traditional Polish restaurant, where I tasted some delicious dishes like pierogi and bigos. Then I went to a pub, where I met some friendly locals and listened to some live music.

The next day, I left Zamosc by train and headed to Krakow, my next destination. I was sad to leave this charming city, but I was also happy that I had seen and done so much in such a short time. Zamosc is definitely a place worth visiting and remembering.
